Statement on passing of 91´óÉñ student

 

Dear VCC community,  

It’s with great sadness that we share news of the passing away of one of our students following an incident at Wreck Beach last Thursday, April 17.  

On behalf of 91´óÉñ, we offer our deepest condolences to the student’s family, loved ones, friends, peers, and instructors here at 91´óÉñ and abroad.  

This is an immense tragedy for the VCC community. We encourage employees and students to check in with each other and access supports that are available to you:  

• 91´óÉñ student counselling and support services  
• Employee and Family Assistance Program (myVCC login required)   

At this time, VCC will not be revealing the identity of the student out of respect for the privacy of the student and their family and friends.
